計劃說明 ：
本研究的長遠目標是發展水產養殖技術來飼養珊瑚礁魚類及迴游型觀賞魚蝦，以增進吾人瞭解其生態需求，進而保育稀有及瀕危的物種，並可降低自然族群的採捕壓力。將以控制營養鹽比例的方式，讓不同的浮游藻生長，以篩選不同的浮游動物作為餌料生物，達到增加珊瑚礁魚類的稚魚存活機率。本計畫針對養殖之各水質因子加以監測，包括溫度、鹽度、溶氧、pH值、濁度與營養鹽等養殖環境等，該等水質因子是否適當，均是為成功培育魚苗之重要條件。海水水質監測模式結果可以提供適合魚苗養殖水質基本條件之建議及試驗，以建立種苗生產模式。希望能了解仔稚魚適合生長環境之水文特性，以作為養殖環境條件之依據且能隨時監控，當得到這些背景資料並經整合之後，進一步改善養殖環境，以便日後提供海水觀賞魚及迴游型觀賞魚蝦繁養殖環境的參考及學術研究。此外，全球各地有許多大型水族館展示珊瑚礁魚類，而這些魚類在展示缸中也經常會交配產卵。然而，這些魚卵通常都沒有被利用且被忽略。因此，本實驗即利用水族館展示缸中所生產的珊瑚礁魚卵，以無機營養鹽施肥法來飼養仔魚，並與傳統的餵食輪虫的方法比較。結果顯示無機營養鹽施肥法的確比餵食輪虫的方法更能讓仔魚渡過初開口攝食的階段，而這方法也許能讓水族館達到永續經營的目標，大大減少野外捕捉的壓力。
